Weekly Review: 9-3 to 9-9

Back once again w/ the weekly review. September is getting to be very busy and a lot of stuff is in the works aka look for new work posted soon. Either way, on w/ the show!

  • Welcome all the visitors of my first email newsletter: Vintage Relish Vol. 1 Issue1
  • D.Woods redesign and branding is underway. Pretty exciting as we are getting a lot of room to work and strengthen her brand.
  • Sat down w/ Cecilia Stalin and got going on a redesign for her site as well.
  • Plotted out the first 3 issues of The Bros. Moore story. Character Designs are coming soon.
  • Joined Twitter! Not sure how that’s going to working out but we’ll see.
  • The weekly creative showcases has been really cool and I love giving talented people their shine
  • Really excited about working in the Non-profit realm again. I like making people who do good and honorable work look good on the web.

And that’s a wrap! This month is already looking crazy but fun/busy crazy.

Photographer Showcase: Tine Machine

Dancer, 3D Lighter, Photgrapher, and all around superhero, Christine “Tine Machine” Gatchalian, is a fantastic photgrapher when shes not painting light onto Horton Hears a Who or Ice Age 2 or rippin’ dance cyphas. A under five foot unda wonda, her models love her energy, good attitude and beautiful style. That and they can fit her in their pocket and take her home! Check out her blog for all things Tine and her portfolio for fashion photography.

Artist Showcase: Cheeks!

CHEEKS! aka Sean Galloway is one of my favorite character designers/comic book artists in the game. Super clean, stylized and fun. He has a cool coloring style that matches cartoons and makes you believe you are looking at animation cells. His work can be seen on the new Spider-Man cartoon and his new book, Spread the cheeks!

Weekly Review: 8-27 to 9-3

Here we are, it’s Sept! Holy crap, I blinked and summer was gone. August was a VERY slow month for Mookie Design, but the mental health as well as rearch and development on areas of business and marketing. Now on with the show:

  • sitting down w/ singer Cecilia Stalin about doing a redesign for her site and brand. Her voice is incredible and really respect the music she is making
  • finished the Mookie Design newsletter temp w/ first issue going out sometime this week (hopefully) tomorrow)
  • The ROMG page has more work up for your viewing pleasure.
  • In talks w/ an African American Academic Non-Profit for a site redesign
  • Researchin, plotting, and planning. Basically getting better.
  • Google apps are the best! check out my google reader page for what/who I am reading and learning from…good stuff
  • booking for sept/oct, holla at me.

Short post (especially w/ the long weekend but I’m back at it!)

Designer Showcase: Vesl Studios

My man, Erik Otto, is probably one of the only other people I know that is doing more things than I am! He is a celebrated fine artist, clothing designer [New Leaf Clothing], AND talented designer with his latest venture, Vesl Studios. Vesl Studios is a collaborative studio w/ 3 other talented Bay Area, CA artist/designers that will show up in this blog soon enough.

*the vans shown above are a protype but I’d be the first in line to pick them up when it becomes a reality!

Photographer Showcase: John Liau

For our first photographer showcase, we turn to John Liau of Vaindeer. I am not a big fan of event photgraphy BUT John does a good job of changing my mind. Crisp, clear, and meanigful, these pics are more than just “look at me! I’m at a cool party!” pictures. With large events like Rock the Bells and Vampire Weekend concerts to local Bay Area parties for the young and fashion-forward, he makes ‘em all look good.
