TIme again for the weekly review! Since the holidays are coming up, I will have some down time to catch up on some of my blog/tutorial readings and ajax/javascript books. as well as drawing! But on w/ the show.

• Housedancer.com redesign is underway [see below]
• D.Woods is ALMOST finished, just waiting on the final content but it is looking good and a mjar improvement from what she had before
• ROMG has been avidly booking for dec and jan (and possibly to feb now)
• ROMG will be also getting a face lift pretty soon.
• Ajax is my friend.
• Accounting is like a fair weather friend but I am learning to at least like it a little bit more. Thank you FreshBooks and BootStrap
• Still trying to debate between Django or Ruby on Rails as frmae to build my first web application
• Finally learned how to build a wiki and used it for the graphic novel of my brothers and I
• Working on my first public released ROMG Wordpress theme. Simple, elegant and cool
• Again, working on my attention to detail and stop being design lazy.

Well kiddies, I’m back! After travelling around the world and back again, it’s time to catch up and close the year out right. It has been the better half of the year since I struck out on my own and things are going well. Had a really good meeting w/ the ROMG fellas and everyone is on the same page after a few hiccups. Theres a lot of work to be done.

• Finally resettled back into NYC after being in CA for about 4 weeks and Japan for 1 week
• ROMG promotional materials will be done by the begining of Dec.
• Jowell y Randy site is back on..more later
• Begining on In The House magazine this weekend
• Wrappin up D.Woods project, finally
• Redesigning Housedancer.com
• Finishing up Cecilia Stalin
• Reading up on small biz accounting
• researching more on AJAX
• Stepping my organization

Well, I’ve been around the world and i ya ya….it has been a crazy interesting month. High school reunion, trip to Japan, youngest brothers wedding, and catching up w/ friends. Did a lot of consulting, meetings and chit chat which led to one really good gig that I think will produce more work. The others were more wishy washy but also did some probono work (like the branding above for a church group/band, Unplugged) and enjoyed the California sun. Now, its back to NYC and to the grind.

Back from my vacation in japan. Good eye opener and reaffirms my travelling bug. Peep the pics here. Also got alot of good reading in interms of my organization, creativity and biz practices. Japan is a crazy place but alot of inspiration. Uppin’ my business game!

Week 2 in sunny California has been filled with meetings and consulting sitdowns. A few leads on new work but we’ll see. Above is a quickie flyer I did today. On w/ the show!

• D.woods build is movin. Functionality is almost there and now Pope is tweaking the design.
• Cecilia Stalin project is movin to the build phase, test site up soon.
• Meetings galore! From old HS friends to non profits w/ no money but high demands to indie clothing labels. Getting alot better at pitching. Now got to work on closing the deals.
• Twittering more and following cool designers
• catching up on blog reading
• Started a branding design for “Finnie’s BBQ”
• Reading up on Javascript/AJAX and small business
• Teaching house dancing tonight
• Leaving for japan on sunday! see you in a week

Busy, busy, busy! Week one in sunny California has been very productive. Not to mention my HS reunion which went REALLY well. Possible new business well. See pics here. And now, on w/ the show!

• Dwoods is moving right along. ROMG is really knockin this one out the park. I’ll post the design shortly
• C. Stalin loved the designs and I will start the build this weekend.
• Had about 4 meetings this week. Been workin on creative consulting as well better pitching and new business getting
• Talking w/ more dance related people about doin some work, details to follow
• I have been drawing and will post them up soon WITH a painted one as well.
• Going to Japan in less than 2 weeks! Let’s see if we can make it a business trip as well as sightseeing

Another week flew by and now it’s time to take stock of the week:

• Finished my stint at Weight Watchers, fun times, good people
• 19Market Restaurant site is SOOOOO close to being done!
• Continuing on the Cecilia Stalin designs (thanks RO for the good critiques), 2nd pass posted soon.
• FINALY building D.woods site now (see pope, I actually AM doing something for this!) Props to pope for the ill myspace page and branding for her.
• Working on 2 free wordpress themes to submit to themeforest.net. I want to get more into designing wallpapers and themes just to let the mind breathe a lil.
• ROMG business card is done, now i just need to finish my back side of it. Flippin the webpage portfolio next
• Working on the Character Designs for the brothers moore graphic novel, post soon as well.
• Off to CA for a month for a HS reunion, week in Japan, and youngest brother’s wedding! oh my!

Back again w/ the weekly wrap up. Got alot going on in preparation for my CA trip for in October.

• Finished up the web portfolio of illustrator Maghen Brown
• Research, research, research! Consuming project management, accounting and jquery books. Reading is fundamental!
• Random Order is gaining steam and actively booking for the rest of the year. Our word of mouth is nuts!
• Vintage Relish was a success and following up on leads from the responses. Look for the next issue in late october/early november
• Current in progress projects: 19Market restaurant, Cecilia Stalin redesign, and D.woods redesign
• Finished plotting “chapters”(thanks pope) 0-2 so far. SLOWLY working on the character designs
• Working on the Creative Consulting side of things advising a prominent dancer/artist and up and coming socio-political blog MisoAmerican.com

Here we are, it’s Sept! Holy crap, I blinked and summer was gone. August was a VERY slow month for Mookie Design, but the mental health as well as rearch and development on areas of business and marketing. Now on with the show:

• sitting down w/ singer Cecilia Stalin about doing a redesign for her site and brand. Her voice is incredible and really respect the music she is making
• finished the Mookie Design newsletter temp w/ first issue going out sometime this week (hopefully) tomorrow)
• The ROMG page has more work up for your viewing pleasure.
• In talks w/ an African American Academic Non-Profit for a site redesign
• Researchin, plotting, and planning. Basically getting better.
• Google apps are the best! check out my google reader page for what/who I am reading and learning from…good stuff
• booking for sept/oct, holla at me.
